ABOUT WRITING COPY

Most people, when they write copy for a business, tend to write “LOOK HOW GREAT WE ARE!” type copy, in a desperate effort to convince potential customers to give them business.

However, the main thing to keep in mind is that potential customers don’t CARE how great you are (at first). All they care about is what you can do for THEM.

They have their own worries, their own problems, their own pain points, and what they truly want to know is this: CAN YOU SOLVE MY PROBLEMS?

If you can answer that question right up front, then your copy will be much more effective than if you start out by trumpeting things like “We’re the Best!” or “We’ve been in business for TEN YEARS!” or “We are the most reliable!”  Notice all those things are about YOU.

They don’t care about you.

They care about their own problems, and if you can show them you care about their problems, and want to help them solve their problems, then they’ll keep reading.

Once you’ve hooked them into reading more, THAT is when you tell them why and how you can solve their problems, and why and how they should give you their business.
